About EOH

Under state law, the Executive Office of Housing (EOH) serves as the State's lead agency for housing, homelessness, and community development in the State of Rhode Island (RIGL 42-64.34).

Formerly the Rhode Island Department of Housing, EOH oversees a range of regulatory and community development programs that promote housing stability and strengthen communities. Housing-related investments represent a significant portion of the state budget, reflecting our commitment to ensuring all Rhode Islanders have access to safe, affordable, and sustainable housing.

Mission Statement:

Our mission at the Executive Office of Housing is to create housing solutions that foster thriving households and strengthen communities, ensuring every Rhode Islander has access to safe, affordable, and sustainable homes.

Vision:

We strive to create a more prosperous Rhode Island, where thoughtful housing solutions ensure access to safe, affordable homes—the foundation for thriving households and stronger communities.

Core Values:

  • Accessibility: Everyone deserves a clear and fair pathway to housing. EOH works to remove barriers that prevent Rhode Islanders from accessing the housing services and support they need.
  • Accountability: We hold ourselves—and our partners—responsible for delivering results that meet the urgent housing needs of Rhode Islanders. EOH tracks performance transparently, steward resources responsibly, and adapt when needed.
  • Collaboration: Housing and homelessness solutions require collective effort. EOH builds partnerships across government, nonprofits, faith-based and community organizations, and the private sector to create policies and programs informed by those closest to the work.
  • Humanizing Data and Communication: Behind every data point is a person, a story, and a lived experience. EOH ensures that the way we collect, interpret, and communicate information reflects the people we serve.
  • Inclusivity: There is no one-size-fits-all solution. EOH works to remove barriers to safe, affordable, and accessible housing for people of all backgrounds, abilities, and incomes, and we ensure equal opportunity to live in neighborhoods that meet individual needs. We direct resources where they are needed most to help every Rhode Islander secure and sustain stable housing and build stronger communities.
  • Transparency: We keep Rhode Islanders informed, engaged, and empowered to hold us accountable for delivering on our mission.
