Resources

This Resource page has been created to support Rhode Island residents and stakeholders by highlighting programs and key agencies that offer assistance in specific areas.

Emergency Winter Hubs: During extreme cold temperatures, the following locations will open to provide additional, overnight capacity to support the safety of Rhode Islanders. This year, the winter hubs include:

  • Westerly: WARM Center, 56 Spruce Street – Open 24 hours during the winter months

Please note that these hubs are temporary locations that differ from typical shelter sites, as they are drop-in centers that do not rely on a referral and are designed to open only during declared weather emergencies to provide immediate relief and comfort for those who might otherwise be vulnerable to the harsh weather.

Additionally, the following existing shelter locations will be open overnight on a drop-in basis, meaning no referral is needed.

  • Welcome House: 8 North Road, Peace Dale (South Kingstown) – Open 24 hours

  • Opens Doors: 1139 Main Street, Pawtucket – Open 24 hours
