Public & Stakeholder Engagement

Stakeholder Engagement

The Department of Housing has gathered feedback from a variety of Rhode Islanders and housing experts through this process so far. Stakeholder engagement to date for the development of Housing 2030 has included:

  • Municipal meetings – The Department of Housing met separately with leadership from all 39 cities in towns.
  • Focus groups and interviews – led by lead consultant Abt Global, focus groups included Public Housing Authorities, non-profit developers, for-profit developers, municipal planners, housing advocates, YIMBY advocates, and low income renter advocates.  Additional meetings and interviews have been held with a variety of additional stakeholders.
  • Resident survey – currently live, the resident survey offers members of the public the opportunity to share information on their housing situation, housing needs, and housing aspirations. The data from the survey will help support goal and strategy development. The survey is available in English and Spanish and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
  • Advisory Group - The Department of Housing is convening an advisory group to assist in the development of goals and strategies for the state housing plan. This group will meet four times as public meetings. Meeting minutes and agendas will be available here
    • Meeting 1 - Thursday September 19th from 1 to 3 PM - Department of Administration (Power's Building) Conference Room 2A
  • Public presentations – The Department of Housing has presented on the state housing plan at legislative hearings and at the Housing Resources Commission. Slides from the Housing Resources Commission presentations are available below.
