Landlord Tenant Handbook

In accordance with R.I.G.L. § 42-64.34-2, effective January 1, 2024, the Executive Office of Housing, formerly the Department of Housing, created a written guide for consumers relating to the rights and duties of landlords and tenants pursuant to Chapter 18 of Title 34 of the R.I. General Laws, the “Residential Landlord and Tenant Act.” 

The 2024 Landlord Tenant Handbook, available below in English and Spanish, was developed in collaboration with the Rhode Island Center for Justice, HousingWorks RI, and Rhode Island Legal Services.
