Municipal Infrastructure Design Initiative
The Housing 2030 Municipal Infrastructure Design Initiative helps cities and towns advance new housing developments by funding early-stage architectural and engineering (A/E) work associated with infrastructure improvements. By covering these upfront planning and design costs, the program helps municipalities overcome early project barriers and move housing developments closer to construction.
The Executive Office of Housing made up to $1 million available through this competitive grant program to support A/E costs for infrastructure projects tied to affordable housing development.
Eligible expenses include architectural and engineering services for infrastructure improvements such as water and sewer systems, streets, sidewalks, and utilities. Projects must be located on public property and directly related to the creation of new housing units. Priority is given to projects that facilitate affordable rental and homeownership opportunities eligible to count toward municipal affordable housing goals established under Housing 2030.
Two projects were awarded funding through the program, totaling $643,620.
